A CHRISTMAS MESSAGE

From the Lips of Angels....  click to listen

The first noel the angels did says, was to certain poor shepherds in fields as they lay.....

Most of us are used to at least hearing if not singing this wonderful old carol at Christmas time. But, have you ever seen an angel? Well I have! .... We have one that we keep it in our special Christmas decoration box! And every year when all the family gets together to put up the Christmas tree, we pull our angel out of the box.

Once all the decorations are on the tree, our angel is always the last decoration to be placed right on the top. But why an angel?

Well, we like to be reminded that on that very first Christmas, there were in fact real angels who really came, bringing a message of hope and joy to the world! On that wonderful night when Jesus was born, it was an angel who brought the message to a group of shepherds who were looking after their sheep, just outside the tiny village of Bethlehem: Don’t be scared. I’ve got great news for you! Great news for you & for everyone! Tonight, in the town of David (Bethlehem) a Saviour has been born for you – He is Christ the Lord! And then, suddenly the whole sky was filled with angels, all praising & glorifying God! Why? Because a Saviour had been born!

So who needs a Saviour? Well, if you’ve ever found yourself caught in a rip out in the surf, suddenly being swept out to sea, you’ll know what a welcome sight it is to see the red & yellow cap of one of our brave Life Savers is! Someone coming out to save you!

But the Bible shows us that all of us have been caught in a rip, a rip that has been dragging us further & further away from God. That rip is called sin & it is seen in all of the selfish things we say and do. Those things have taken us far from God. But the wonderful news that came from the lips of real angels that first Christmas night was that God has sent out a Life Saviour! One who would come and actually give up His life in order to save us. When He grew up, this Saviour actually died on a cross, paying the penalty for all of our sin, so that we in turn could be brought back to God.

The wonderful message that came from the lips of those angels was that God had sent a Saviour. Now, 2000 years on, God’s promise remains. If we will turn and place our faith and trust in Him, this Jesus will be our Saviour too.
